Dee Vincent, Pickleball Ambassador, brought the sport to the Village in 2006. After hosting an initial playday to introduce pickleball to more than 100 interested Villagers, Dee was able to convince the POA that Hot Springs Village was ready for pickleball. The POA then converted one tennis court at the DeSoto Family Recreation Center into four regulation pickleball courts.
The Hot Springs Village Pickleball Club, had the opportunity to welcome Dennis Ramsdell as a Ambassador and few months later his wife Diane also became a Ambassador. The Ramsdells have been in HSV for several years, coming to the Village after Dennis retired from the Air Force. Being true athletes, Dennis and Diane were golfing and bowling and then looking for another avenue for recreation. While bowling on a league, Bob Nommensen, a HSV PB member, told them about the exciting game of pickleball and they decided to give it a try back in 2008. The first game was all it took to turn Dennis and Diane into avid pickleball players. They have attended three mid-south tournaments, played in Arkansas Senior Olympics for the last four years, and have collected numerous gold medals. Vacation doesn’t pull the Ramsdells away from pickleball. They are going to the Villages in Florida, where they will attend additional training classes to enhance their play and to bring back ideas that will be passed on to our members of the HSV Pickleball Club through our training classes. For the last two years Dennis has held the responsibility of keeping everyone abreast of the rules and introducing rule changes. He has also been instrumental in helping get additional courts for our club. Diane has worked in developing pickleball in this area, assists Dennis in his endeavors and was instrumental in establishing the Intermediate and Novice Leagues this fall. Dennis is originally from Portland, Maine, and Diane from Coos Bay, Oregon. They met when Dennis was assigned to an Air Base in Oregon and they have a daughter who is a career Air Force gal, so they are keeping it in the family. Dee Vincent Ambassador
